The purpose of our disABILITY Employee Resource Group (ERG) is to increase psychological safety for those with disabilities at St. Peter’s Health. Our ERG aims to create a safe place to bring forward experiences, concerns and any work that needs to be done to promote the daily needs of those with disabilities
This is important to do because disabilities can be hidden at times. Some of the common reasons people choose not to disclose a hidden disability in the workplace include:
- Stigma
- Concern about misperceptions
- Denial
- Lack of awareness
disABILITY ERG Activities:
We strive to have increased dialogue about disability in the workplace, highlighting areas of improvement and celebrating successes. Recent ERG activities include:
- March 31, 2023 – MonTECH presentation to St. Peter's leaders
- August 16, 2023 – Walkthrough with community members, director of facilities and disABILITY ERG co-chairs to review accessibility in our parking lots
