At St. Peter’s, we understand the phrase "patients with disabilities" encompasses a diverse and multifaceted population. While there are many ways to define and categorize individuals with disabilities, we recognize the importance of adopting a clear definition to track, monitor and improve on equitable and tailored health care services for this group. As a result, St. Peter’s currently defines patients with disabilities as individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Patients with documented mobility and physical disabilities
- Patients with diagnosed cognitive disabilities
- Patients under the age of 65 with Medicare insurance coverage
As we define patients with disabilities, we remain open to continuous learning and improvement and to adjusting our population definition. We actively seek feedback from patients, caregivers and advocacy groups to refine our understanding and ensure our approach aligns with evolving best practices and advancements in the field of disability care.

We are currently seeking members to join an advisory committee made up of community members passionate about health and health care for persons with disabilities in the Helena area. This group will specifically examine our current health care offerings for persons with disabilities, and will collaborate with us to improve those offerings over the coming years. The group will meet once a month.
