You can make a difference in the lives of patients and community members we serve every day in Helena, Montana through the rewarding and enjoyable St. Peter’s Health Volunteer Services program.

It’s the smile you share greeting visitors and escorting them to their destination. It’s the kind words or listening ear you provide to patients in the Cancer Treatment Center or for those without family nearby. It’s the camaraderie you share with St. Peter’s Health staff assisting them with the behind-the-scenes work they do.

Our volunteers are a vital, dynamic group that devotes individual skills and care, in order to support the purpose and services of St. Peter’s Health.

Volunteer impact

St. Peter’s Health volunteers are an essential part of the St. Peter’s Health care team. St. Peter’s Health has had volunteers in place for almost 70 years. In 2016, the St. Peter’s Health Volunteer Department was presented a Serve Montana Award in recognition of its Outstanding Service. The award was given by the Governor’s Office of Community Service and the Montana Commission on Community Service.

In 2018, over 120 volunteers donated over 11,300 hours to assist in providing exceptional and compassionate health care to our patients and the community. They contributed in the areas of the gift shop, the Cancer Treatment Center, the No One Dies Alone (NODA) and Hospice programs, environmental services, graphics and more.

St. Peter’s Health volunteers include retirees in the fields nursing, construction, tourism, state government, retail and beyond. Our volunteers also include college students seeking any experience in a medical setting and individuals who want to make a difference and have the time to do so.
