St. Peter’s Health has received the Mission: Lifeline® 2020 Silver Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.
The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program helps hospitals and emergency medical services develop systems of care that follow proven standards and procedures to care for ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. STEMI is the deadliest type of heart attack.
St. Peter’s Health earned the award by meeting specific criteria and standards of performance for quick and appropriate treatment through emergency procedures to re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries in heart attack patients coming into the hospital directly or by transfer from another facility. Teamwork and response time are key to saving lives. The multi-disciplinary Cardiology Committee at St. Peter’s Health has been critical to continually improving heart attack care for our community. The committee’s work includes analyzing case data to ensure that opportunities to improve treatment time are taken at every step of the process.
