Near-term plan calls for local ultrasonography organization to continue to operate as independent organization

St. Peter's Health and Sound Health Imaging announced today that St. Peter's completed a stock ownership transaction to purchase the Helena-headquartered ultrasonography organization. Sound Health Imaging’s main location is 1 Medical Park Drive, located across the street from St. Peter's Health Regional Medical Center (hospital). For now, the facility will continue to operate under the name Sound Health Imaging, Inc. and remain a separate entity from St. Peter's. The facility will continue to offer a full suite of ultrasound services, including obstetric, vascular, gynecological, abdomen, breast and more.

Helena-area residents Scott and Audrey Mendenhall started the medical diagnostic ultrasonography organization nearly three decades ago. Along with their clinical and administrative team, the couple has been committed to providing high-quality care to the Helena community. The Mendenhall's have partnered with St. Peter's for years, and reached out to the local nonprofit health care system to inquire about purchasing the facility as they began to plan for business succession.

"We're excited for the future of Sound Health Imaging as this new structure will build from our strong foundation of patient care, customer service and the highest technical quality in southwest Montana," said outgoing Sound Health Imaging President Scott Mendenhall. "Our great staff will continue providing highest-caliber ultrasound imaging services in expanded ways as part of St. Peter's commitment to quality and service. We couldn't be prouder of our team and look forward to their continued success."

According to St. Peter's Senior Director of Diagnostic Services Steve Matthes, "We are excited to expand our work with Sound Health Imaging, a team with a wealth of knowledge, experience, and compassion." Sound Health Imaging employees hold a host of advanced credentials in registered vascular, fetal and adult echo, abdominal, obstetrics, small parts, breast and more.

St. Peter's currently provides comprehensive diagnostic imaging services around-the-clock with imaging services available on an outpatient, inpatient and emergency basis. St. Peter's diagnostic imaging services include, but are not limited to x-ray, MRI, ultrasound, CT, mammography, nuclear medicine and PET.
