St. Peter’s Hospital recently entered into an engagement with PatientMatters, LLC to enhance our patient registration and billing services. These enhancements help ensure you have constant access to important information and financial services that provide increased transparency while giving you additional control of your healthcare.

Below are the benefits we have implemented in order to bring great healthcare to our community:

Redesigned Statements
Easier-to-read, detailed statements of services with easy-to-understand payment options. The redesigned patient statement also includes a guide to navigate elements of the statement.
Launched November 2016

Financial Counselor Assistance
A new team of dedicated financial counselors helps patients identify payment sources and devise payment plans to ensure that cost is never an obstacle to receiving care. Financial counselors assist with insurance enrollment and accessing charity care when needed.
Launched Spring 2016

Patient Engagement Center (PEC)
A dedicated, phone-based customer service center staffed with revenue cycle specialists to address billing questions, concerns, assist with payment plans and connect patients to financial counselors to help secure other forms of payment following service.
Launched October 2016

Online Payment Portal
A billing-specific website where patients can view statements, make payments on various accounts, and manage tailored payment plans (subject to SPH policies).
Launched November 2016

New Technology System
An automated, technology-driven system that will alert us when there is a discrepancy in a patient’s demographic or insurance information between the hospital and the clinics. The system also provides a propensity score -- a calculation of a patient’s capacity to pay, thus allowing us to better tailor payment options for patients. Other features of the new system include checks and balances to improve patient registration so that improperly entered data is flagged.

Out-of-Pocket Estimates Prior to Service
New technology that will run patient eligibility (insurance information) against scheduled procedure and SPH data for typical procedure details to calculate estimated out-of-pocket cost for patient prior to services.

0%-Interest Loan Program
Offer patients a zero-interest long-term (up to 36 months) payment program — well above the standard financing options offered by most healthcare providers.
