Hospital CEO Search Firm Retained

Date: 07/17/12

Quick Leonard Kieffer of Chicago, one of the country's leading executive search firms specializing in healthcare, has been retained by St. Peter’s Hospital to assist in its search for a permanent CEO, announced Board Chair Maria Braman, M.D.

“Quick Leonard Kieffer (QLK) has considerable expertise in providing search consultant services,” said Search Committee Chair Mary Sheehy Moe. “In 2011, QLK conducted 144 searches throughout the United States with a 100 percent retention rate. The firm has Montana experience, having been the search firm for the CEO at St. Vincent’s Hospital and CFO of Benefis Health System.”

Nine firms expressed interest in St. Peter’s search and proposals were received from eight. Three firms were interviewed by tele-video and the Search Committee selected QLK on July 13. The Board approved the committee’s recommendation today.

“QLK presented strengths in both community and physician engagement,” Moe added. “They gave the most impressive demonstration that they had done their homework and understand the importance of community and physician engagement in vetting candidates for fit in this search.”

The firm plans to make a site visit to St. Peter’s in early August to meet with the Search Committee and interview key hospital staff, physicians, and community members. QLK will complete a landscape assessment and then make recommendations for next steps. The firm’s staff also plans to attend St. Peter’s Board Retreat in September and expects to complete their work late this Fall.

Serving on the search committee are hospital Board members Dr. Maria Braman, Dr. Tom Strizich, Sheila Hogan, and Mark Taylor, and former Board members Moe (chair) and Candace Cain. Also serving are John Green representing Senior Management; Dr. Dick Sargent, non-Board physician; and Mike Cooney and Joan Miles, public representatives.
