Flu Shots Offered at Hospital

Date: 09/20/12

St. Peter’s Wellness is offering two opportunities for the public to receive a flu shot in October. Flu shot clinics are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 8, from 5 – 7 p.m., in the hospital’s Education Center; and Friday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the hospital’s Conference Rooms.  Flu vaccinations will be offered on a first-come, first served basis. Insurance billing will not be accepted.  The cost for those who self pay is $25 cash, check or credit card. Please use the Main Entrance for both locations.

The vaccine St. Peter’s is administering is acceptable for those 36 months of age to the elderly.  Children under the age of nine must have received the vaccine in years past. Those requesting a flu shot for a child under the age of 36 months should contact the child’s pediatrician or primary care provider.

Flu shots are strongly recommended for pregnant women, health care workers and those who are in a school or daycare setting, including adults and children.  Vaccinations are suggested for those with chronic lung disease and travelers, especially those visiting foreign countries.  People receiving a shot are reminded that it does not provide full protection until two weeks after it has been administered and it is still possible to get the flu during this period.
