St. Peter's Hospital--Conference Rooms 3, 2

FREE, fun and informative class for new grandparents will be offered at St. Peter’s Hospital on September 20, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm.

With so much changing in the world, it’s no surprise the parenting trends are changing too. This class offers up-to-date information to keep you relevant with your children as they become new parents. Safety Topics include: poisoning, sleep, shaken baby syndrome and car seats. Infant choking rescue and infant CPR will also demonstrated.  (This class does NOT include a CPR certification card). Additional topics to be discussed include baby care, childbirth and parenting today, memory making, communicating with their children as parents, encouragement versus advice, and long-distance grand-parenting.

Instructed by Nurse Educator, Karrie Fairbrother, RN, CDE, Karrie has been teaching families about newborn baby care for 10 years. She is well-known as a "baby guru" with relevant insights on the modern approaches to baby care and parenting. Her upbeat energy and enthusiasm makes this class engaging and personal. She addresses many concerns for first time parents and even first time grandparents. Her areas of expertise expand beyond newborns into the fields of diabetes education, her main role, and into skin cancer prevention and sun safety.
