The Strong Women – Healthy Hearts Program is a twelve-week series of nutrition and physical activity classes to help reduce the risk of heart disease. 

It is free to register here online; however, each participant is asked to donate $20 to cover the cost of the 3-month program. Cash or a check made out to “Extension Fund” and can be presented at the informational session or at the first class.  Please scroll to the bottom of each page and read through all steps of this online registration.

Classes will cover topics such as:

  • The impacts of heart disease 
  • Portion control 
  • Menu planning 
  • Ways to reduce stress
  • And more! 

There are also cooking and physical activity components. The Strong Women – Healthy Hearts Program is designed and tested specifically for women. While it may eventually expand to included men, right now only women will be included.   

The program is specifically designed for women who: 

  • Are over 40 years of age (women under 40 who are at risk for heart disease are still encouraged to join if space permits)
  • Do not get regular exercise (if you do get exercise the physical activity portion of these classes may be easy for you)
  • Are overweight or at risk for becoming overweight
  • Are not pregnant (due to weight loss component of this class)

Participants must attend a short informational session on Thursday, February 23 from 5:30 to 6 pm.

Activity Questionnaire
Regular physical activity is fun and healthy and being more active is very safe for most people. However, some people should check with their doctors before they start becoming more physically active. In order to register, you must complete the questions below to determine whether physical activity is safe for you. Based on your responses, a Physician Authorization form may be sent to you. You'll need to have your physician or healthcare provider complete this form and you'll need to return it to the program leader prior to starting the program.
