Students must be pre-registered in order to attend. 

This 12-hour, 2-day instructional program is for youth ages 11-13. Topics include how to deal with medical emergencies, babysitting as a business, age appropriate entertainment, how to handle a choking child, responsibilities and safety. Students must pass a written exam and demonstrate rescue breathing/choking on a mannequin. Students must attend both days.  Please register student with name, age and birthdate and enter parent contact information when prompted.  Please supply student with lunch or means to purchase lunch from the hospital cafeteria.

The Heartsaver CPR course is designed to teach the lay person how to perform High-Quality CPR on an adult, child and infant.  The student will also learn how to apply and operate an AED on an adult manikin. The student must show competency through a skills test for each segment of the course; meaning a skills test for Adult CPR, Child CPR and Infant CPR.  The student will also learn the steps on how to treat a conscious adult victim and an unresponsive adult vicitm, as well as a choking child and a choking infant.

The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid in a safe, timely, and effective manner.  Students will learn how to properly remove gloves, practice “Finding the Problem”,  use of an Epi-pen and Inhalor, and how to stop bleeding.  Upon course completion, the student will receive a course completion card for a 2 year period.  

The student will also learn the steps on how to treat a conscious adult victim and an unresponsive adult vicitm, as well as a choking child and a choking infant.

Reflecting on wishes, wants and needs prior to an altering of life circumstance is important so that decisions are being made while not in the midst of a crisis situation. Through visiting with local vendors and learning about all they have to offer, discover the vast resources that are available in Helena to assist you in planning for the future.
