Matthew D. McLaren, M.D.
Matthew D. McLaren, M.D., has joined St. Peter's Medical Group as the region's only Fellowship-trained and Board Certified Interventional Pain Management physician. Dr. McLaren earned Diplomat Certification in Anesthesiology and Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology. He completed his anesthesiology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago and surgical internship within the Yale University Hospital system in New Haven, Conn.
Dr. McLaren administers pain-relieving therapies that significantly improve quality of life. He performs fluoroscopically-guided procedures, including epidural nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, intradiscal electrothermal annuloplasty, spinal cord stimulation, sympathetic blocks, and non-surgical disc decompression techniques. His practice also offers advanced therapy for patients suffering from cancer pain.
Dr. McLaren is actively involved with chronic pain research and education and lectures nationally on a range of interventional pain management topics including the use of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and pharmacological approaches to chronic pain. He serves on the National Physician Advisory Board for Advanced Bionics as a thought leader on best practices for SCS technology in clinical medicine. In addition, he conducts seminars instructing physicians on how to perform advanced SCS procedures and consults on challenging cases.
