Special Fun Run Registration Set for August 6
A special, on-site registration for youth to participate in the fifth annual Capitol Classic Fun Run will be on Monday, Aug. 6, at Capital City Health Club. Those who register that day will be eligible for a Club membership prize.
The Capitol Classic is a free, one-mile fun run set for Saturday, Aug. 18, from the State Capitol to St. Peter’s. August 6 is the last day youth age 14 and younger can register for the run and receive a free T-shirt. Youth can continue to register at www.stpetes.org up to the day before the run.
The event kicks off with a Zumbatonic warm-up at 9 a.m. on the corner of Broadway and Montana. Runners and walkers follow a one-mile course ending at St. Peter’s Medical Group Broadway, across from the hospital. A free, limited membership to Capital City Health Club will be awarded to the first boy and girl to cross the finish line in first, second and third place.
All fun run finishers will receive a free drawstring backpack with surprises. Former Denver Bronco football player Bob McCullough, local athletes and sports mascots will be greeting youth at the run start and finish line.
Following the Fun Run, there will be a Back to School Health Fair until 11 a.m. Free sports physicals will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m., on a first-come, first-serve basis. Numerous health education booths and demonstrations will be given. Activities include a dunk tank, obstacle course, carnival games, and Sumo wrestling with prizes. Live music is being donated by the Triple Cross Band and healthy refreshments will be served.
The event is sponsored by St.Peter’s, New West Health Services and Capital City Health Club. For more information, visit www.stpetes.org/fun-run, or call 444-2135.
