St. Peter's Cardiology Clinic

Helena HealthCare, Inc. (HHC), was created in October 1999 as a 50/50 ownership between St. Peter’s Hospital and physicians. In April 2003, the physicians sold their ownership to the Hospital. When St. Peter’s became the sole owner of HHC, the clinics were integrated into the Hospital in June 2005, which allowed St. Peter's to apply for Provider-Based status.

Provider-Based is a clinic status the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services allows organizations to seek which can result in additional Medicare and Medicaid payments for services furnished at the provider-based facility, and may also increase the coinsurance liability of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.

This partnership is more efficiently meeting the community’s health care needs by providing continued access to physicians. Health care costs are more effective because the clinics are able to operate more efficiently by sharing Hospital equipment and staff and participating in St. Peter’s supplies ordering. By supporting this program, St. Peter’s is helping to retain physicians to treat Medicare and Medicaid patients in the community.
