About the Cancer Treatment Center

The Cancer Treatment Center of St. Peter's was dedicated in 1996. It expanded the services available to the community and surrounding area which brought together the modalities of Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Medical Oncology includes full chemotherapy and hematology services. Radiation Oncology offers state-of-the-art radiation therapy including seed implants and IMRT.

To accommodate the increasing numbers of patients, the Cancer Treatment Center expanded in 2002. The new expansion included room for more chemotherapy chairs, a family consultation room, larger nurses' station, a new waiting room and a Meditation Garden. A full Resource Library available for patients and families, as well as internet access for cancer information and cancer treatment options was also added.

In 2000, our Cancer Program became accredited by the Commission on Cancer, becoming the third hospital in Montana to hold this distinction. By meeting established national standards, we ensure all our cancer patients only the latest and best possible care.

The Cancer Treatment Center of St. Peter’s is an outpatient treatment unit located within St. Peter's Hospital, offering optimal quality care in the delivery of Radiation, Oncology and Medical Oncology services to our patients in our community and surrounding area. We focus on a team approach, attempting to treat the "whole" person, not just the disease. In addition to our physicians, nurses, and technologists within the Cancer Treatment Center, we utilize other professionals such as social services, dietitians, physical therapy, home health, pastoral services, and hospice. Our physicians are members of The Montana Cancer Consortium, a group that allows us to participate in national clinical cancer trials approved by the National Cancer Institute. These are the same trials that are often available at universities and major medical centers.

St. Peter’s is recognized by The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Receiving care at a commission-approved cancer program ensures that a patient will have access to comprehensive care, including a range of state-of-the-art services and equipment; a multi-specialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options; information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options; access to caner-related information, education, and support; a cancer registry.

Our staff is comprised of a supportive team of expert physicians, nurses, clinical and support staff who are dedicated to providing exceptional and compassionate care, close to home. We partner with patients, community, and medical staff to assist you in every step of your cancer treatment. To meet our expert staff, go here.
