Colon Cancer Screening

Colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer in America, but the great news is that colon testing can save your life, and even prevent colon cancer.  Colon cancer almost always starts with a polyp – a small growth inside the colon or rectum that may turn into cancer.  Testing can find polyps before cancer develops, or detect the early stages of cancer when it can be cured.

St. Peter’s Hospital uses a preliminary test kit called the fecal occult blood test.  The occult screening test is an effective method for determining the early signs of colon cancer.

No sedation, or bowel preparation must be done.  This is an inexpensive test kit which is carried out in the comfort of your home and mailed to St. Peters.  If you are interested in obtaining more information please call St. Peters Wellness Center @ (406)-444-2128.
