Early Projects

Clean Room & Pharmacy
St. Peter's opened a new Community Pharmacy in March for all patients who are treated at the Hospital. Services are available 24 hours daily, 365 days a year. The Pharmacy is about 25 percent larger than the former space and features new patient consult room and clean room. The clean room was built to comply with new federal requirements for sterile compounding of medications. Completed in 2007.

Concourse
A Public Concourse, the main thoroughfare from St. Peter's East Entrance to the new main entrance being constructed to the southeast, was completed in October. Built by Dick Anderson Construction and numerous local subcontractors, the Concourse offers easy access to the cafeteria, coffeeshop, and conference rooms and improves wayfinding. The comfortable central area is a new space for visitors and staff to relax. The former outside courtyard between the main lower level of the Hospital and the Medical Floor wing, offers 3,200 square feet of additional space.

ER Nurses Station
Phase I of St. Peter's new Emergency Department was completed in April 2006. The new department was expanded to be more than 80 percent larger and features a central nurses' station offering easy observation of all patient rooms. The new department has 18 beds in larger treatment/exam rooms, 13 of them private rooms; a large, dedicated triage room where doctors and nurses evaluate and transfer patients to appropriate treatment areas; a state-of-the-art decontamination room; dedicated cardiac treatment room; modern three-bed trauma room; two isolation rooms for potentially infectious patients; a dedicated gynecologic treatment room; two orthopedic treatment rooms; psychological exam room; larger reception area with children’s play area; private patient registration area; and new covered drive-through entry. Take a virtual tour of the department

ICU
A new Intensive Care Unit that connects with St. Peter's new Emergency Department was completed December of 2007. The completely new unit, which is nearly 2,500 square feet larger than the current ICU. Because of its location next to Emergency Department, Surgery, and Catheter Lab; there will be improved privacy, continuity of care, and reduced transportation of patients. The new department has larger rooms to accommodate new technology. There is be a total of 8 ICU and 5 observation beds; the previousunit had 8 beds.

Kitchen
Part of the Hospital's Phase I Expansion included the construction of a new Dietary Department Kitchen area that totals 4,680 square feet. The former kitchen was about 3,200 square feet. The expanded area includes new, state-of-the-art equipment and enables Nutrition Services to provide a room service program where patients can order a specific meal at various times throughout the day.

Patient Wing
A new four-story wing is being constructed on the southeast corner of campus. When finished it will become the main entry to St. Peter's. The new wing will offer all private patient rooms for more privacy and flexibility; a consolidated radiology department offering a convenient and more efficient operation and expansion for future technology; and separate elevators for staff, patients, and the public. The first floor will include the main lobby, imaging and laboratory services; the second floors will house Medical patients; while the third floor will have Surgical and Oncology. The fourth floor will be home to Family Obstetrics and Pediatrics. The new entrance will align with the new I-15 South Interchange and move traffic from the residential neighborhood to the commercial area. The wing will provide a direct thoroughfare to all public areas via the Public Concourse; an enlarged lobby with convenient, private patient registration areas; and a state-of-the-art public Education Center (finished) that seats up to 300 people

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
St. Peter’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department has been expanded and remodeled and now features cutting edge equipment offering the most advanced rehabilitation treatments using a team approach. The department was expanded by approximately 440 square feet and also remodeled to provide patients and staff with a more inviting and comfortable atmosphere as well as additional rehabilitation equipment. The reception area and offices were rebuilt to provide therapists the opportunity to monitor to patients from their office. The department is staffed with four occupational therapists, 11 physical therapists, and three speech pathologists and is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
