Surgery

Randy Kjorstad, M.D. comes to Helena from Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., where he completed his general surgery residency.  The surgeon earned his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees at the University of North Dakota.  He spent nine years at Madigan as a resident and teaching faculty.  He earned a bronze star medal for actions in combat while deployed to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.

A native Montanan, Alissa Abentroth, M.D.  attended Carroll College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology.  She received her Medical Degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her General Surgery internship and residency at the Hospital of St. Raphael, affiliated with Yale University.  Dr. Abentroth participated in international clerkship programs in OB/GYN, pediatrics and surgery at Kikuyu Hospital in Kenya and in colorectal surgery at the Royal Victorian Hospital in Belfast, N. Ireland.

Dr. Debra Kontny received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan and completed a transitional internship and surgical residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas. In addition, she studied Comparative Health Care, Medical Humanities and Ethics in London, England.

 Dr. William Harper is board certified with the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Harper earned a bachelor's degree from University of Notre Dame in Biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Harper completed his General Surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee. He completed a Vascular Surgery fellowship at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. Dr.

Dr. Galt earned his bachelor's from Montana State University and a Medical Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.  He is board certified with the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and active in The American Society of Breast Surgeons and The Southwestern Surgical Congress.

Dr. Galt practices all aspects of general surgery, with special interest in breast cancer care and laparoscopic surgery.

Jason Fleischmann, DMD, MD earned his Dental Medical Degree from Harvard University, where he graduated with honors in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After graduation, Dr. Fleischmann worked for several years in the Boston area as a general dentist before completing his training as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Dr. Fleischmann subsequently graduated from the State University of New York with a Medical Degree.
