Hospital CEO Resigns

John Solheim, President and CEO of St. Peter's Hospital in Helena for the past 11 years, has resigned his position effective April 30, 2012, Rick Hays, Chair of the St. Peter’s Hospital Board of Directors, announced today.

The organization will undergo a national search for a new President & CEO.  During the search, St. Peter’s Vice President of Human Resources/Physician Services Tom Gregg will serve as interim President & CEO.

Hospital Visitor Precautions Announced

Several cases of norovirus have been reported in the community.  Helena is also beginning to see cases of influenza in addition to gastrointestinal viral illnesses.

New O-arm Equipment Available for Surgeries

St. Peter’s is the second hospital in Montana to offer spine surgery with the O-arm, a complete multi-dimensional surgical imaging system.  With the O-arm, surgeons are able to perform less invasive procedures and confirm the precision of advanced surgical procedures before the patient leaves the OR.  As a result, patients have faster recovery times and improved outcomes.

Helena’s New Year Baby

Patricea Rushford, 18, of Bozeman, welcomed Helena’s first baby of 2012.  Baby boy Nickoli Scott Keys was born at 10:19 a.m. Monday, January 2, weighing 6 pounds, 15.5 ounces.  He will go home with adoptive parents Maryann Costello and Galen Hollenbaugh of Helena.

Hospital Encourages Organ Donations

St. Peter's Hospital has joined the Hospital Donor Registration Campaign as a Hospital Partner.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the campaign brings together national partners, local and regional organ, eye, and tissue donation organizations, and hospitals throughout the nation to educate communities on the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation.  The goal of the campaign is to register 300,000 new organ donors by April 30, 2012.

Open House Planned for Expanded Pediatric Rehab Department

The public is welcome to view St. Peter's expanded Pediatric Rehabilitation Department at an open house Friday, Jan. 13, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Those planning to attend should use St. Peter’s East Entrance. Rehabilitation staff will be available to provide tours and answer any questions. Light refreshments will be served.

Pete's Place Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Pete’s Place, St. Peter’s Child Care Center, noted its 25th anniversary this week celebrating the care of between 1,000 and 1,200 St. Peter’s and Helena families’ children. 

On Nov. 3, 1986, St. Peter’s Hospital opened Pete’s Place, Helena’s first employer-operated child care center.
