Blood Drive at St. Peter's

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at St. Peter’s Hospital, Thursday, Aug. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Education Center.  St. Peter’s is located at 2475 Broadway; please use the Main Entrance off of Winne Avenue.

With extreme heat keeping some donors at home and severe storms forcing the cancellation of dozens of blood drives, Red Cross donations are at the lowest they have been in 15 years, creating an emergency need for donors of all blood types.

Public Input Sought on CEO Search

The public is invited to provide their input at a community forum about the search for St. Peter’s new President & CEO Monday, Aug. 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Education Center.

Staff from Quick Leonard Kieffer (QLK) of Chicago, a leading healthcare executive search firm which was retained by St. Peter’s to assist in its search, will introduce themselves and the firm and share the process they will use for the search.  The audience will be able to ask questions and provide input on what attributes they think are important in the new President & CEO.

Fourth of July Medical Care Available

Medical care is available on the Fourth of July holiday at St. Peter’s Hospital Urgent Care from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Urgent Care is located through the Hospital’s Emergency entrance, 2475 Broadway Street.  As always, 24-hour emergency care is available at the same location.

 

St. Peter’s Medical Group Broadway, the North Montana Clinic and its Urgent Care will be closed.

Board of Director Officers, New Members Appointed

Pathologist Maria Braman, M.D., was recently elected Chair of St. Peter’s Board of Directors effective July 1.  She replaces Rick Hays who will continue to serve as a Board member.  Other new officers include Vice Chair Bill Northey, Secretary Sheila Hogan and Treasurer Patty Nelson.

Foundation Board Members Elected

Dr. Russ Bell, Lindsay Esponda, Kevin McCutcheon and Mat Rude were recently elected to three-year terms on the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees.  They join Chair Ryan Screnar and members Kym Black, Jeff Boyer, Arlene Mathews, Lynn Staley and staff interim President & CEO Tom Gregg and Foundation Executive Vice President Mike Munck.

Board Committee Members Sought

The St. Peter’s Hospital Board of Directors is seeking additional members for its Planning and Community Relations committees.

Those interested in serving on a committee should send by May 21 a letter stating why they are interested together with a resume to hospitalboard@stpetes.org.

The primary responsibility of St. Peter’s committee members is to follow the Hospital's mission.  St. Peter’s is an independent, community-based organization. 

Blood Drive is April 13

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at St. Peter’s Hospital, Friday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Education Center.  St. Peter’s is located at 2475 Broadway; please use the Main Entrance off of Winne Avenue.

Blood collected at Helena blood drives serves the local community first, with excess shipped anywhere in the country where there is a need.  One unit of blood often saves more than one life because the blood is divided into blood cells, plasma and platelets, which can be used for up to three different patients.

Hospital CEO Resigns

John Solheim, President and CEO of St. Peter's Hospital in Helena for the past 11 years, has resigned his position effective April 30, 2012, Rick Hays, Chair of the St. Peter’s Hospital Board of Directors, announced today.

The organization will undergo a national search for a new President & CEO.  During the search, St. Peter’s Vice President of Human Resources/Physician Services Tom Gregg will serve as interim President & CEO.

Hospital Visitor Precautions Announced

Several cases of norovirus have been reported in the community.  Helena is also beginning to see cases of influenza in addition to gastrointestinal viral illnesses.
